"Success Stories"
Country Comfort, "Sully"
Our first official "rescue and rehome project" was a talented little 4 year old TB named Sully. He was discovered by a friend of ours at the Sugar Creek Auctions, where she bought him, then sold him to us a few days later. We only owned Sully for a short time, about six months, and we discovered that he had amazing amounts of talent and an eagerness to learn. We took him to a schooling show where he did the cross rails and 2' hunters and he won every class he went into. At that point, we decided Sully was ready to be someone's show horse, and he was sold to a young lady and her family who now uses him as an event horse. We still see Sully and his new owner, Gabi, at local shows frequently and they continue to impress us with their progress. What an amazing pair they make!!

MissMoneyPenny, "Penny"
Penny was a gorgeous 16.2h, 5 year old mare rescued from a local racing farm just two days before she was to be sent off to slaughter. She had just finished with a mildly successful racing career, and the owners just didn't have the space for her anymore, or the money to feed her. Although Penny was a difficult ride at the beginning, we enjoyed our time working with her. She went on lease to some students at Lake Erie College, who enjoyed the challenges of working with an off-the-track thoroughbred, and taught Penny well. When the school year was over, Penny was returned to our farm, and we posted her for sale. She was purchased by young lady and her mother, who took her up to Northern Michigan to be used as a jumper horse and possibly a sport horse broodmare, and we are glad to hear that she has settled into her new role nicely.

Walk the Line, "Holly"
Holly came to us around Christmas time 2005. She was estimated to be about 2-3 years old, and she stood at 13.3h. She was another Sugar Creek rescue, and a lot about her past was unknown, including her exact breeding. We broke her out to ride in the spring of 2006 and spent countless hours in the saddle that summer and fall teaching her the basics. In the summer of 2007, Holly began her show career with April, and occasionally with some of the kids too. Over the summer, Holly eventually began to get the concept of jumping and showing, and proved that she could be a competitor in the eventing and combined training world. That fall, she became one of the lesson ponies for Megan Carl's Northcoast Equestrian IEA team, where she was a favorite of several of the students in the program. While showing with the team in June of 2008, she caught the eye of her current owner Jamie, who purchased Holly for her daughter. We often run into Jamie and Holly at our local events, and we enjoy seeing her and knowing that she is still doing well. Good Luck Jamie and Coley!!
