Princeton Ridge Farms
Horse Boarding, Training, Sales and Showing
About Us...
Princeton Ridge Farms is a family owned and operated facility, we do 100% of the work ourselves, with the occasional help of our wonderful 4H-er neighbors, Sydney and Kayla.
April has been riding for about eight years, and started off her riding career in Eastlake, OH at Brick Hill Farms as a lesson rider and eventually became a part-time member of the barn staff, as well as the owner of her very first horse, "Callie", in 2002. Callie was a former racehorse who came to Brick Hill as a six year old "big stakes race mare" who had been abandoned when her owner passed away and was left to starve to death. The Anthony family rescued Callie, and she proved to be a wonderful project and a great teacher for April. April and Callie then went on to train at several other stables and sought the knowledge and advice of many local hunter/jumper trainers in her efforts to become a better team.
Callie was just the beginning of April's long standing love for training and showing off the track thoroughbreds and other rescue horses. Since Callie passed away in 2004, the Anthony family has purchased/adopted many other horses in need, and retrained and re-homed them (see our Success Stories page). Over the years, they have proved that there are many wonderful horses out there just waiting to be discovered.
April is also a graduate of Lake Erie College with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Accounting. She is currently employed full time at De Nora Tech in Chardon, OH.
In her free time, she enjoys working with and competing on her show horse, Iron City. They show in the jumpers, and more recently in the eventing and dressage worlds as well. See our Show Results page to check up on how they're doing!
April's father, Barry Anthony, is our resident barn manager and care taker. He is in the barn every morning at 5am feeding breakfast, and he can always be found in the barn every evening feeding dinner and cleaning stalls as well.
Barry makes sure each horse is getting the right amount of hay and grain each day, and he make sure everyone stays happy and healthy at all times. He is responsible for supplying our feed, sawdust and hay each month as well as general maintenance around the farm. He keeps the wheels turning here at Princeton Ridge and he is a very busy man. Needless to say, our operation could not be functional without him! Thanks Dad!
